Railway station, West Calder, Midlothian
|
West Calder station was on the Caledonian Railway's Edinburgh (Princes Street) to Glasgow (Central) line. This photograph dates from c. 1910.
The principal features are the platforms, a pedestrian bridge linking them, the main station building (right) and a smaller building housing a waiting room (left).
This section of line opened in 1869. Prior to that, Caledonian trains between the two cities had had to take a long detour via Carstairs Junction, Lanarkshire. |
