From the 1760s, this site has been visited by a procession of tourists and depicted by many artists.
The extraordinary collegiate chapel, the part ruined castle and the attractive surroundings of the Esk valley made Roslin a must for conoisseurs of the literary and historic.
Sir Walter Scott lived nearby and wrote of Roslin Castle. Robert Burns also visited it. |
