Black cattle were important to the economy. Unlike modern breeds, they were able to walk the long distances over the drove roads to market, and from there further south.

Land in and around Berwick is used to graze cattle. Their skins can be sold to tradesmen to make leather. Locals also keep sheep and sell their wool.

There are also lots of rich people living in Berwick too and unlike the villagers, they eat spiced foods, drink fine wines and wear embroidered linens.
