The falls on the River Braan have attracted tourists, writers and artists for the last 250 years, amongst them Wordsworth and Mendelsshon.

Their setting is dramatised by the designed landscape created around them by the Dukes of Atholl.

The building from which they are viewed was originally erected in 1758. In 1782, it was rebuilt and dubbed 'Ossian's Hall' after the mythical Gaelic bard. In 1869, it was blown up and rebuilt again. The present building is a 1952 restoration.

The hall and the adjacent woods have been a National Trust for Scotland property since 1944.
