Wrought iron field gate, Wull Muir, Midlothian |
A gate like this could be made by a local blacksmith. The use of scroll ornament on the gate's top rail shows an attention to the finished appearance beyond mere functionality.
It has heavy pyramid-coped gate piers, built in stugged, dressed ashlar. The gateway is wide enough to admit carts. |
