Roll-on roll-off ferry terminal, Scalasaig, Colonsay, Argyll |
European grant-aided infrastructure projects such as this £1.25m ferry terminal, on Colonsay, have played a significant role in maintaining the sustainability of island communities.
The terminal is served by regular sailings from Oban and Kennacraig on the Argyll mainland as well as providing moorings for small craft.
An adjustible ramp allows vehicles to drive directly into the vessel. The earlier ramped pier can be seen in the centre, middle distance. It was built in 1965 by the county council at a cost of £160,000. |
