main image Garmouth viaduct, Moray
Garmouth viaduct was on the former GNSR Tochieneal to Garmouth line, Moray. The line was authorised in July 1882 and opened in 1886.

The viaduct, which crosses the River Spey, was designed to stand up to the sudden floods and wide variations in the river bed to which the Spey is liable. It is also known as Barnett's Monument after its designer.

As with so many other minor railways, the line fell victim to the Beeching Report of 1963 and closed completely in May 1968. It is still passible on foot.
