In the beginning, you did what necessary to win land and acclaim. You went on many conquests, gaining land stretching from the north of Scotland right down the western seaboard.

However, you soon realised that times were changing and to win the approval of the King of Norway, you needed to accept Christianity. The greatest number of people are converted to this 'new faith' during your reign. New laws and rituals gradually replace pagan traditions and bring the north in line with the rest of the Christian world.

You will be remembered in the Orkneyinga Saga as the most powerful and landed of all the Earls of Orkney.
