main image House and steading, Hareshowe, Aden, Aberdeenshire
The house and steading from the 'craftie' (croft) of Hareshowe was reconstructed at the North of Scotland Agricultural Heritage Centre at Aden, Aberdeenshire, in 1991.

The house is typical of those built on the smaller farms of north-east Scotland – a single-storey two-bay house with bedrooms in the roof space.

Houses of this type were still being built, in the same traditional materials, in the early 20th century.
