The Scott Monument virtual tour

"The very central and supreme object in the architecture of our present Edinburgh is the monument for Sir Walter Scott, the finest I think which has yet been raised anywhere on earth to a man of letters."

The Scott Monument was built by public subscription in the 1840s to commemorate Sir Walter Scott, one of Scotland's greatest novelists.

This site tells the story of Sir Walter Scott and the Monument through the collections of the City of Edinburgh Council Museums.
