Fank (sheep pens), Keenie, Glenesk, Angus |
Yards like this, with multiple pens, are used at certain times of the year. They separate lambs and ewes for shearing and, as here, for dipping to protect the sheep from parasites.
The sheep in the far pen have been gathered to be put through the dipper (centre). The sheep are fully immersed in the insecticide mix by the man holding the forked pole.
Dipped sheep are penned in the foreground to allow the dip to drain back into the dipper. |
