SOUTERRAIN
Tealing image

This souterrain, one of the best preserved passages found in Angus, is about 24m long and 2.3m wide.
It was accidentally discovered during agricultural work in 1871. It is curved in shape and seems to have been once divided into two compartments.
The floor, where not natural rock, was probably paved. In the north wall, 0.5m from the entrance, there is a cup-and ring marked stone, certainly of an earlier period.
