STANDING STONE
Cayistane image

A broad monolith, situated in a recess in the wall on Cayistane View, on the north side of Oxgangs Road in Edinburgh.
It is a massive red sandstone pillar, almost rectangular in shape, 2.7m high, 1.3m-1.5m broad and 0.5m thick. Its east face bears some weathered cupmarks.
The stone is said to mark the site of a battle between Picts and Romans.
