Sails in St Magnus - SMC249

'Sails in St Magnus' was an exhibition of 14 banners which were hung in the nave of St Magnus Cathedral. The exhibition took place during the 1993 St Magnus Festival.

The banners represented sails and were based on St Rognvald's crusade to the Holy Land in 1151. Each sail was accompanied by a text by George Mackay Brown.

The sails were designed by five local artists: Erlend Brown, Dave Jackson, Mary Scott, and Andrew Parkinson.
