Constitution Day - SMC247
This
is a video clip of the Norwegian Constitution Day Parade in
Kirkwall. The parade starts at the pier and ends outside St
Magnus Cathedral.
Norwegian Constitution Day is held on May the 17th. It celebrates
the signing of Norway's constitution in 1814. On this day
events are held throughout Norway and there are also celebrations
in Kirkwall and Edinburgh.
Orkney and Norway have many historic ties. From the ninth
to the fifteenth centuries Orkney was a part of Norway. These
ties are kept alive through the efforts of the Orkney Norway
