St Magnus Festival - SMC246
The
21st to 26th of June 2002 saw the 25th St Magnus Festival
take place. St Magnus Cathedral was the venue for six performances
and the Festival Service.
In a continuing trend, 2002 saw many performances distributed
throughout the Orkney Islands. However, St Magnus Cathedral
remained a focal point and saw performances by The Dunedin
Consort, Elder Music Ensemble, and Sinfonia 21.
In 1977, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies established the St Magnus
Festival as a festival for the people of Orkney. It has taken
place every year at midsummer for 25 years.
