Stone
mason doing delicate work on a leaf formation - SMC239
Colin
Watson, the St Magnus Cathedral Stone Mason, is doing delicate
work on the leaves of a finial. The original finial was blown
off the Cathedral during a gale.
Colin is using a small round mallet and fine chisel to finish
off the end of one of the leaves. It is difficult to position
the stone so that he can strike it in the right place and
at the right angle.
The completed finial is now mounted in place on the gable
of the north transept chapel
