are some of the modern tools that are now used by stone masons.
The modern tools include diamond disc grinders, pneumatic
hammers and tungsten tipped chisels. These tools make stone
masons' jobs easier and quicker but traditional tools are
still used for certain tasks.
In recent times it has become necessary for stone masons to
look after their health and safety. Dust extractors are used
in workshops and air hoods are used when working. This is
to reduce the risk of inhaling dust, from the stone, and developing
silicosis. Silicosis is a form of lung cancer that many stone
masons used to die from.
