Stone Replacement and Repairs - SMC220

A major project of stone replacement took place on St Magnus Cathedral in 2002. The main contractor on the project was Steve Laing Traditional Masonry.

The work involved the chopping out of stone that needed to be replaced and the pointing in of new stone work. Repairs took place on the west face of the north transept and on the faces of the north and south choir aisles.

The work was funded by Historic Scotland. 3 to 8 men worked on the repairs at any one time.
