Roof Cleaning - SMC218

This is the roof of St Magnus Cathedral being cleaned. Cleaning the roof is one of the many duties that the Cathedral Stone Mason has to carry out.

The roof is swept to remove any leaves , moss and mud that may have built up over time. If the leaves were allowed to build up then water would not be able to flow off the roof properly.

The roof is swiped twice a year, once in the spring and once in the autumn, after all the leaves
