The Boys' Ba' - SMC216
This is the Boys' Ba', which is a ball game that takes place on Christmas and New Years Day in Kirkwall every year.
In the Ba' there are two teams called the "Uppies" and the "Doonies". For the Uppies to win they must "round the long", opposite the Catholic Church on New Scapa Road. The Doonies must get the Ba' into the harbour basin to win.
The Boy's Ba' is thrown-up at 10:30am at the Mercat Cross outside St Magnus Cathedral and is often not finished when the Men's Ba' begins at 1:00pm.
