Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony - SMC212
This
is a photograph of the Norwegian Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
at St Magnus Cathedral in 2002. The ceremony is an annual
event and takes place in early December.
The ceremony is one of the largest community events in the
North of Scotland. In 2002 it included contributions by Orkney
school children and music by Reiden Horvei, Frank Rolland,
and others.
The Christmas Tree is a gift from the people of Hordaland.
In 2002 the lights were turned on by Mrs Torill Selsvold Nyborg,
the Vice Convenor of Hordaland County Council.
