is a baptism taking place in St Magnus Cathedral. During baptisms
water from the font is poured over the child's head in an
act of purification.
Baptism is the act of admitting a candidate to the Church.
It can be performed by either submersion, immersion or affusion.
Affusion is the act of pouring water over the
St Magnus Cathedral contains two fonts. One is carved from
wood and is located in the nave, the other is made from marble
and sandstone and stands in the presbytery.
