Early twentieth century workers - SMC205

This is a picture from the early twentieth century. It shows the workmen who took part in the restoration of St Magnus Cathedral after they had removed the large bell.

The labourers would almost certainly have been local men, as may have been the master masons and carpenters involved. The restoration took place between 1912 and 1930.

Details of numbers of workmen employed, the jobs they did and the hours they worked can be found in a bundle of weekly reports by the Clerk of Works.
