Main West Door Screen - SMC196
This is the screen for the main west door of St Magnus Cathedral. It is flanked by two smaller screens for the other two west doors. The screen has two doors which open into the nave and they face north east and south east respectively.
The screen is approximately 5 metres high and is adorned with carved grapevines and foliage. Angels bear coats of arms on the sides of the screen. The style of the screen is very similar to all the other door screens in the Cathedral.
The screen was designed by George Mackie Watson and was installed during the restoration of the Cathedral in the early twentieth century.
