The Organ Screen - SMC194
This is the Organ Screen of St Magnus Cathedral. It can be found between the two piers containing the relics of St Magnus and St Rognvald. The screen was designed by George Mackie Watson and installed during the 1920s.
The screen is ornately carved with grapevines and foliage. A central cross is flanked by the symbols of the four evangelists and the Eucharist. Statues of Bishops William the Old and Bjarni Kolbeinsson, and of St Magnus and St Rognvald also adorn the screen.
The screen was designed to hide the organ installed in 1926. The organ was replaced in 1971.
