Communion table in the crossing - SMC190
Located in the crossing of St Magnus Cathedral is a communion table. It was crafted in 1991 by Colin William Kerr of Sui Generis.
The table is made from oak and is inlaid with an interlocking celtic design. A dove is in the centre and crosses are placed at the four corners. The table sits on a raised platform and the Norwegian Bible is displayed on a lectern on top of the table.
Communion is a Christian service of thanksgiving that commemorates Christ's Last Supper. In the Protestant Church it has replaced the Catholic Mass.
