statue on the Bishop's Palace - SMC165
This
is a statue of St Rognvald and can be found on the wall of
the round tower of the Bishop's Palace in Kirkwall, Orkney.
The statue is set into a niche in the wall and is carved from
white stone. The statue faces north-west and can be seen as
you approach the palace from the west end of St
This statue has been identified as St Rognvald, St Olaf, and
Bishop Reid. It is generally accepted that it represents Rognvald
because of the lyre at its feet as Rognvald was renowned as
a musician
