Albert Thomson talking about the bells - SMC161

This is part of an interview of Albert Thomson, who was Custodian of St Magnus Cathedral, for Radio Orkney. It tells of the peculiar way in which the bells of St Magnus Cathedral are rung.

Albert Thomson was custodian of the Cathedral from 1946-1978. He was fascinated by the history of the building and amassed a great collection of material which can be found in the Archives.

The full interview, available in the Orkney Archives, contains further information on the bells, an account of Thomson's memories of the octocentenary pageant, and of a strange early twentieth century storm that hit Papdale.
