Exposed arches on the choir flanks - SMC131
Evidence for changes in building style can be seen on the transepts of St Magnus Cathedral. Where the aisle roofs of the choir and nave join with the transepts, partly exposed arches can be seen.
It must have been the intention of the original designers to have slightly higher walls at triforium level. Higher walls would have concealed the arches and allowed for windows to be present in the triforium.
Examples of high galleries can be seen at Durham Cathedral and Dunfermline Abbey.
