Norwegian Bible - SMC128
On display in the crossing of St Magnus Cathedral is a Norwegian Bible. It was presented to the people of Orkney in 1992.
On the fly leaf of the Bible is the inscription 'Kirkwall 12th of December 1992. To the people of Orkney from the people of Hordaland in friendship and affection.
Orkney was once ruled by the Norwegian Kingdom and still has many connections with Norway. Other Norwegian items can be found in the Cathedral such as the flag, the soapstone head and the Hordaland Tapestry.
