St Ninian Stained Glass Window - SMC094

At clerestory level on the south side of St Magnus Cathedral is a stained glass window of St Ninian.

St Ninian is known as the first Apostle of Christianity in Scotland. He was a bishop and founded a monastery at Whitorn. According to Bede, Ninian converted the southern Picts to Christianity.

As St Ninian dedicated a church to St Martin, who died in 397, his mission to the southern Picts must have been in the late fourth century. St Ninian died around 432.
