The Strong Room - SMC030
The cathedral strong room is located in the south transept on the triforium level. It is used as a storage room for valuable and important items.

The strong room may also have had another use. The original entrance to Marwick's Hole, the cathedral dungeon, was through the strong room. This indicates that the use of the room may have originally been as a court room for a clerical tribunal.

After the reformation the entrance to the dungeon was closed and a new one opened in the south choir. The strong room may have continued in use as a court after then but was eventually converted to its present use.
