The Cathedral Alms Dishes - SMC026
There are two seventeenth century brass alms dishes in the Cathedral. They are about two and a half feet in diameter and came from Rotterdam.

The dishes both depict a scene from Genesis with Adam, Eve the tree and the serpent. One is inscribed with "Had Adam gedaen Gods Woort wys soo waer hy Gebleven int Paradys" which can be translated as "If Adam had wisely done God's word, he would have remained in Paradise".

These collection plates were not made for the cathedral but were brought from Rotterdam.
