Outside Influence, Part 1:
Alex James, Footballer

Scottish footballer Alex James (1901 - 1953) who was born in Mossend, Lanarkshire and began his professional career at Raith Rovers. He was signed by Arsenal manager Herbert Chapman in 1929 and played until 1937 when he became a coach and worked with the junior side for 12 years. James won 8 international caps and the highlight of his international career was scoring twice against England during his country's famous 5 - 1 victory at Wembley Stadium in 1928.
