Alex Ferguson

Alex Ferguson, newly signed to Glasgow Rangers

Footballer Alex Ferguson, Glasgow Rangers newly-signed centre forward who cost £65,000.

Ferguson was born in Govan, Glasgow, and his first club was Queen's Park who he signed for in 1958. He moved to Falkirk in 1969 as a player / coach and took on this role at several clubs in Scotland before retiring as a player in 1975.

He managed Aberdeen to the Scottish League title, European Cup Winner's Cup victory and won both Scottish knock-out cup competitions (1986) before moving to Manchester United to become a successful manager in the First Division and Premier League. He was also the caretaker manager of the Scottish national side after Jock Stein's death in 1985.
