Butcher Row and Fish Street, Dundee
c. 1870

This is one of a pair of illustrations by the Dundee-based artist and lithographer, Charles S. Lawson, showing areas in the centre of the city which were demolished as part of the improvement scheme which saw the building of Whitehall Street and Whitehall Crescent.

The top line shows the south side of Fish Street, with the Panmure Mission premises (the ornate, church-like building) to the left of centre. Below is the north side of Butcher Row, the round tower at the left-hand side being the Old Customs House on Greenmarket.
