bartizan, n. overhanging battlemented corner turret at the top of a castle or church tower. The Oxford Illustrated Dictionary has this word as being coined by Sir Walter Scott, from a misunderstanding of an illiterate Scottish spelling of bratticing parapet.

battlement, n. Indented parapet on top of a wall, particularly of a castle, providing protection to defenders and (at the indents or crenels or embrasures) positions for them to fire on assailants; battlemented adj.

castellated adj. Built like a castle, with battlements; looking like a castle. castellation n.

crenellate v. to add battlements or loopholes. crenellation n.
